the most important question.

what is the purpose of hope fields?

simply, there is a dump with 1000 people living on/around/in it; we don't think that should continue.

but who are we to determine where these people should be placed?  and if we 'bring them out of poverty', where are we bringing them to?  is that new place/situation 'better'?  where is the code that determines what type of living situation is better and which is worse?  is that code determined by our culture?  or is there a universal code?

more questions to follow...

hey eric,

this is diana from a summer spearhead 3 years ago! it's been a while and since that summer we havn't kept in touch, please don't feel bad if you don't remember me. i did receive the email you sent to your entire contact list sharing this blog site, and after reading a few of your blogs i decided to write you this note.

i appreciate your questions... honest, inconclusive, humble, seeking, willing... and i wanted to let you know that i am going to share your experience with a few of my close friends and we are going to pray for you. i can't promise how often, at the very least we will pray for you this week during our community dinner, and i can promise to pray for you tonight before i go to bed.

since spearhead i've been working with a small community church in chicago, and i am still here; asking a lot of the same questions. i know i'll be here for a while, i know i don't have to rush God to fit into 'my agenda of clarity,' and He gives me peace.

i would love to be kept posted on your journey. i'll be checking your blog periodically.

blessings,
diana
